ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES 2025-26
World Environment Day
World Environment Day was celebrated in the college, as a part of the event, tree planting activities were conducted within the campus to promote environmental awareness and responsibility. Students actively participated in planting saplings, making seed pens and taking the pledge to protect the environment. The activities created an awareness about sustainable living and reducing plastic use.
Yoga day Observance
International Yoga Day was observed on June 23rd with a focus on the theme of the day, during which students demonstrated and practiced yoga postures. Physical Education faculty, Ms. Jincy Eugine delivered a brief talk highlighting the importance of Yoga Day and the benefits of yoga for physical and mental well-being, followed by yoga practice.

Orientation session before teaching practice

Inauguration ceremony
The Inaugural Ceremony of the B.Ed Batch 2025–27 was conducted on 15th July 2025 at 10:00 am in the College Auditorium, marking a significant beginning for the new cohort of student-teachers. The programme was graced by the Chief Guest, His Grace The Most Rev. Dr. Thomas J. Netto, Metropolitan Archbishop of Thiruvananthapuram, who formally inaugurated the event and offered his blessings to the students.
Orientation Program
The Orientation Programme for the B.Ed. Batch 2025–27 was held on 17th July 2025 in the College Auditorium to introduce the new students to the academic expectations and institutional culture. The session was led by the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Issac Paul, Chairman, Board of Studies in Education, University of Kerala, who shared valuable insights on the role and responsibilities of future educators.
Online Intercollegiate Quiz Competition on Pythagorean Theorem Day
An Intercollegiate online Quiz Competition was organized by St. Jacob’s Training College, in connection with Pythagorean Theorem Day. Students from various colleges actively participated, making the event informative and competitive. Ms. Gopika E.P. from Sree Narayana Training College, Nedunganda secured First Prize, followed by Ms. Lakshmi A.S. from PTM College of Education, Maruthoorkonam in Second Place.

Patron's day
The Patron’s Day celebration was held on 25th July 2025 at 10:30 a.m. in the College Chapel with a solemn Holy Mass. The ceremony was celebrated by His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Christudas R., Auxiliary Bishop of the Latin Archdiocese of Trivandrum, whose presence added spiritual significance and grace to the occasion.
Talent's Day
The Talent Day programme was conducted on 31st July 2025 in the College Auditorium, providing a vibrant platform for students to showcase their abilities. The event featured performances in dance, music, and theatre, highlighting the creative strengths of the B.Ed. trainees.
Green Friendship day
Green Friendship day The Haritha Sauhridharam 2025 programme was conducted on 6th August 2025 at 9.30 a.m. as part of the Government of Kerala’s Harithakeralam initiative, emphasising environmental responsibility and green awareness. The event was inaugurated by Dr. J. Lidson Raj (Principal, SJTC), who addressed the importance of nurturing nature through collective action.
Anti-ragging day
Anti-Ragging Day was observed on 13th August 2025 in the College Auditorium as part of the Government of India and UGC norms to promote a safe and respectful campus environment. The programme highlighted the seriousness of ragging and the legal as well as ethical responsibilities of every student.
Independence day (14th competition)
The 79th Independence Day celebrations were conducted in the college on August 15th 2025. The Independence Day Competitions were conducted on 14th August 2025 in the College Auditorium, coordinated by the Department of Social Science under the guidance of Fr. Dr. Thadayoose Philip (Vice Principal and Bursar, SJTC). The programme was inaugurated by Dr. J. Lidson Raj (Principal, SJTC), and featured events such as patriotic songs and National Anthem competitions, showcasing the student’s respect and love for the nation.
Folklore day
The International Folklore Day Celebration was held on 22nd August 2025 and featured a hands-on workshop on Puppet Making and Puppet Show led by Mr. P. Venugopal, Director of Children's Academy and Institute of Yoga, Nedumangad. The programme was coordinated by Mr. Prijith Kumar of the Department of Art Education and aimed to introduce students to the creative world of puppetry.
Onam ( 27th competition)
The “Onam Celebration 2K25” was held on 29th August 2025 in the College Auditorium, bringing together students and staff for a vibrant cultural festival honouring Maveli Thampuran and the spirit of Kerala’s unity, love, and brotherhood.
World Suicide Prevention Day Observance
World Suicide Prevention Day was observed on September 10th in the college to create awareness about mental health and the importance of suicide prevention. Students shared their personal experiences and reflected on the relevance of the day and its theme, highlighting the need for empathy, awareness, and timely support.
English Association Activity
The English Association Program "Expressa 2K25" was inaugurated on 18th August 2025 with an address by The Principal, Dr. J. Lidson Raj. The program was coordinated by Dr. Swapna P. The Cultural Program and Association Program were conducted together.
Field trip for Semester I students
A field trip for Semester I students was conducted on 19th September 2025. Students from different optional subjects visited places of educational and academic importance relevant to their respective disciplines. The field trip provided students with opportunities to enhance subject understanding through experiential learning, interact with peers, and develop a deeper connection between theoretical concepts and real-world contexts.
Kinavu: Inauguration of the Academic Extension Services Programme
The Inauguration of the Academic Extension Services Programme of the college was inaugurated by the Manager, on 20th September, 2025, marking the beginning of an academic support initiative in association with Little Flower Football Academy.
Inauguration of Honesty Shop
The Honesty Shop was inaugurated by the Manager, Fr. Albert M., in the presence of the Principal, Dr. J. Lidson Raj and Vice Principal and Bursar, Fr. Dr. Thadayoose Philip. The shop is entirely managed by students during the break period and for 15 minutes before and after class hours.
Optional-wise Magazine Competition
An Optional-wise Magazine Competition was conducted on 29th September 2025 to encourage creativity among students. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Swapna P, with active participation from students of various optional subjects.
Celebrating Managers 50 years of priesthood
On October 6th , the college joyfully celebrated the Golden Jubilee (50 years) of priesthood of the Manager, Fr. Albert M, with a solemn and meaningful programme. The occasion was marked by prayers, felicitations, and expressions of gratitude, acknowledging his dedicated service and spiritual leadership.
College Election
The election was conducted on 10th October in accordance with the regulations stated in the University notification dated 22nd September by the University of Kerala, which directed that nomination forms be submitted by 3rd October and scheduled the election for 10th October and the Oath Taking ceremony was conducted on October 22nd 2025.
Souhridhi: A five-day residential camp for Semester III- 2024-2026 batch
A five-day residential camp was conducted from 13th to 17th October 2025, with a variety of enriching academic and skill-based sessions. The programme included classes on mental health, sculpture, clay modelling, theatre activities, and First Aid & CPR (with practical demonstration by Prof. Sister Rani Catherine from Jubilee Hospital).
School induction program for Semester I- 2025-2027 batch
A five-day School Induction program was conducted starting on 13th October for Semester I students, 2025-2027 batch. As part of the program, students visited six different schools, (Govt H.S.S Kulathur, Govt H.S.S Kazhakuttam, Muslim Boys school, Kaniyapuarm, St. Vincent's Kaniyapuarm, St. Michael’s Kadinamkulam, Pallithura HSS) in and around the Thiruvananthapuram district, which helped them gain first-hand experience of school environments and related educational activities.
Vayalar remembrance event
On October 23rd 2025, the Malayalam Department along with the department of Performing Arts, organized a cultural programme on the Vayalar remembrance which was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. J. Lidson Raj. On the day, various programmes on Vayalar’s songs, recitations, and a dance interpretation were performed. A brief introduction to his life and works made the event even more meaningful.
First meeting with the elected representatives
The First meeting with the elected representatives were held at the principal’s office on October 27th 2025 along with the staff advisor, Dr. Betty Sunny.
International Seminar
An International Seminar on “Educational Transformation: AI-Driven Research, Ethical Frameworks, and Curriculum Innovation” was jointly organized by St. Jacob’s Training College and AIRIO on 29th and 30th October 2025 in hybrid mode. The seminar was inaugurated by His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thomas and His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Christudas R., who also delivered the valedictory address, in the presence of distinguished AIRIO officials including Prof. Dr. Rajeswari K., Prof. Dr. Giby Geevarghese, Msgr. Rt. Rev. Varkey Attupurath, Prof. Dr. M. S. Geetha, and Prof. Jacob Mathew.
Samskrithi (Subject association program)
On 6th November, the Malayalam Department organized “Samskrithi”, Subject association program as part of the Malayalam Day celebrations. The program was inaugurated by Dr. J. Lidson Raj, Principal, and coordinated by Ms. Deepa, Malayalam Optional Teacher.
Union Day
On 12th November 2025, the College Union and Arts Club Inauguration of Samanwaya was held at St. Jacob’s Training College. The program began with an introductory remark by Dr. J. Lidson Raj, Principal, highlighting the role of the college union in fostering leadership and creativity among students.
Sports Day
Sports Day was successfully conducted on 13th November 2025 at St. Jacob’s Training College with great enthusiasm and active participation from students, which was coordinated under the guidance of Ms. Jincy Eugine. The event was formally inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Albert M., Manager, SJTC, who encouraged students to uphold the values of sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork.
Mathspire (Subject association program)
The Mathematics Association Mathspire was inaugurated on 20th November 2025, under the leadership of class representative Sereena Titus and with the gracious mentorship and guidance of our optional teacher Dr. Elizabeth Samuel.
Monument Visit
On November 22nd, a monument visit was conducted for B.Ed. students by the Department of Art Education, coordinated by Mr. Prijith Kumar, with the accompaniment of four staff members and 53 students. The students visited Chitharal Jain Monuments, Padmanabhapuram Palace, and Kanyakumari Beach as part of the curriculum requirement.
Bodhana (Capacity building program)

Nanonova (Physical Science Department)
The Physical Science Department conducted the Subject Association Program “Nanonova” on 27th November 2025, where all 7 members actively presented a puppet show, science experiments, games, and a presentation on scientific facts.
KTET Winners
The results were published on December 3rd. In the KTET examination conducted by the Kerala Government Education Board (KGEB), Pareeksha Bhavan, during the June session, 32 students from St. Jacob’s Training College (SJTC) qualified successfully.
International Day of Persons with Disabilities
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities was observed at St. Jacob’s Training College, on 3rd December 2025 with an awareness session conducted in the classroom by Ms. Megha Anna Thomas.
BIOBYTES (Natural Science)
The Natural Science students conducted a subject association activity titled BIOBYTES: Small Bytes, Mighty Discoveries on 4th December 2025 with the guidance of the optional teacher, Ms. Subhaprabha. As part of the event, students presented an engaging tableau on “The Vaccine Evolution”, and humorous skit titled “Immunity Squad”.

International Human Rights Day
The Department of Social Science of St. Jacob's Training College, celebrated International Human Rights Day on 10th December 2025. The visual design emphasizes diversity and inclusivity in advocating justice.
Christmas celebrations for students
The college joyfully celebrated Christmas with a series of competitions for students on December 17th, encouraging creativity, participation, and festive spirit. Students actively took part in various events, such as the star-making and greeting card-making competition, showcasing their talents and enthusiasm.
Christmas celebrations for staff
Christmas celebrations were organised for both teaching and non-teaching staff, featuring competitions, gift exchange, Christmas messages, and carol singing. An informal get-together with cake and wine distribution added to the festive spirit.
Republic Day
St. Jacob’s Training College marked Republic Day with enthusiasm on 26th January 2026. On 26th January, the program started with flag hoisting by Fr. Dr. Thadayoose Philip (Vice Principal and Bursar, SJTC), at 8:30 AM, followed by an inspiring message from Ms. Megha Anna Thomas and a vote of thanks by Ms. Jincy Eugine.
Martyrs’ Day
On 30th January, St. Jacob’s Training College observed Martyrs’ Day in remembrance of Mahatma Gandhi. The programme was organized by the Department of Social Science to honour the sacrifices made for the nation.
